Team Spirit Will Not Defend The Aegis At The International 2024

Team Spirit will not defend the Aegis at The International 2024

Last year's champions have withdrawn from the tournament after an underwhelming season.

Team Spirit, the reigning The International champions, will not be defending their title at The International 2024, after a disappointing season saw them fail to qualify for any of the Dota Pro Circuit Majors. The team announced their decision on Twitter, saying that they had "decided not to participate in The International 2024".

"This was not an easy decision, but we believe it is the best one for the team," the statement read. "We have had a difficult season and we do not feel that we are currently in a position to compete at the highest level."

The decision was met with disappointment from fans, but many also understood the team's reasoning. Team Spirit had a difficult season by their standards, failing to qualify for any of the Dota Pro Circuit Majors.

They also struggled at the ESL One Stockholm Major, where they were eliminated in the group stage, but they won the ESL One Malaysia Major in August.

However, they failed to build on that success and finished outside the top eight at the PGL Arlington Major and the IEM Rio Major.

Team Spirit's withdrawal from The International 2024 is a significant blow to the tournament. They were one of the favorites to win the event, and their absence will make the competition a little less exciting.

It also raises questions about the future of the team. Team Spirit is one of the most popular Dota 2 teams in the world, and their fans will be disappointed to see them miss out on The International.

It is unclear what the future holds for Team Spirit. They may decide to take a break from competition, or they may try to rebuild their roster and qualify for The International 2025. Whatever they decide, they will need to make some changes if they want to return to the top of Dota 2.
