Grisly Discovery Ends More Than a Year of Heartache

Remains Found in Neighboring County

The remains of Suzanne Morphew, a Colorado mother of two who went missing in 2020, have been found, authorities said. The remains were discovered more than a year later in neighboring Saguache County.

Morphew, 49, went missing on Mother's Day in May 2020. She was last seen leaving her home in Chaffee County. Her disappearance sparked a massive search involving law enforcement agencies and volunteers from across the state.

The remains were found near the town of Moffat in Saguache County, which is in the 12th Judicial District. The investigative team will continue to work to determine the cause and manner of Morphew's death.

Morphew's husband, Barry, was initially named a person of interest in the case but has not been charged with any crime. The couple shared two daughters together.
