Indiana Fever Roster Cuts 2022

Roster Cuts Loom for Indiana Fever

Eight Days Remain to Finalize 12-Player Squad

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Fever have just one more preseason game and eight days remaining to narrow down their roster from 15 to 12 players. Despite their seven-year playoff drought, the Fever boast a roster brimming with talent, including former All-Stars and Olympians.

Roster Decisions to Be Made

Head coach Lin Dunn and general manager Marianne Stanley face the difficult task of determining which players will make the final cut. The Fever have a strong core of veterans, including guards Briann January, Victoria Vivians, and Erica Wheeler, and forwards Breanna Stewart and Jantel Lavender. However, they also have several promising young players pushing for playing time, such as rookies Caitlin Clark and Aaliyah Edwards.

Among the players facing an uncertain future is guard Erin Whalen, who has been with the Fever since 2018. Whalen is a reliable defender and shooter, but she has sometimes struggled to find consistency. Other players who could be at risk of being cut include forwards Lauren Cox and Victoria Macaulay, and center Emily Engstler.

The Fever's final roster decisions will likely hinge on their performance in their remaining preseason game, a matchup with the Las Vegas Aces on May 5. After that, Dunn and Stanley will have to make the tough calls that will shape the team's fortunes in the upcoming season.
